This was a good week for music for me! I’ve had a couple of new faves – notably Luke Sital-Singh, which I decide should get the Artist Spotlight (I’ll draft that up in a bit) – but nothing caused quite a stir as Sam Smith’s “Nirvana”, a soulful pop track I reckon people would start playing over and over if it ever reaches the mainstream/commercial ear.
Sam is a British singer-songwriter with maaaad vocals. He won BBC’s Sound of 2014 (and I think this is where I found him), competing with the likes of George Ezra, Say Lou Lou (listen to “Maybe You“, an old fave), Luke Sital-Singh (I’m on it I’m on it!) and FKA Twigs. Clearly a standout from the Sound of 2014 playlist I found on Deezer, I assume that his win is well-deserved.
