Welcome to a soft landing.

Hey friend,

It’s been a while (a year, lol). I’m glad to still see you here. I came here to write you about something exciting I cooked up with my friends and writing team, editors Layla Tanjutco and KB Meniado

Around December last year, I flirted with the idea of building a community (or something like it) of Filipino poetry enthusiasts. This idea was from my personal desire to find kindred, people who share the same interest and love in reading, writing, and creating poetry books.

I shared this idea (with a deck! she’s a business girl) with Layla and KB — the enablers that they are — and they helped me carry on with the plan.

So here we are. Here you are. I am assuming you are here because you are my friend, you have read one of my books, and that this is a thing you are most likely interested in too. So I come to you first with this news.

This month, I’d like to introduce you to a soft landing.

a soft landing. is open to you, and for everyone who needed the space to read, write, and discuss poetry. This year, we will be starting with a Call for Submissions in the hopes that together, we can build a collection of poems and art about healing. We will create this book together, and with that I mean — we will have weekly prompts and Instagram Live writing sessions to help and guide you. If you wanted to join these activities without thinking of submitting, that’s fine too. What’s matters most is that we are creating together, and hopefully, healing too.

Our team will go through the submissions as part of the process in completing a book: editing and designing, which would mean selecting only the pieces that would give us a strong and cohesive collection.

Submissions will be open in the following weeks, but for now, please make sure that you follow my IG @dawnlanuza, my friends @laylatanjutco, @kbsteps, and lastly, @asoftlanding_ph too.

I am so excited and a little scared to share this with you, but the help from my friends and community made everything less daunting. There is a bigger vision here, but we see the wisdom in taking the first step first. And this, this is ultimately what we wanted to do: to see you take flight, and assure you have a soft landing.

Let’s write together soon.
Dawn x
