Here’s the quick rundown of this week’s Top Five:
5. The Drums – Let’s Go Surfing
Yet another indie band from New York, The Drums re-released this single August last year. This sort of fits in to the current season (at least here in the Philippines), summer. 🙂
4. Matt Hires – Honey Let Me Sing You a Song
Matt Hires seem to belong to the Josh Radin type of tunes, at least on my book. You know, it;s the one-guy-singing-sweet-songs-to-make-a-girl-fall-inlove type of tune. His songs get to be played on various TV shows like Grey’s Anatomy, Private Practice, and this one, in particular, is featured in Cougar Town.
3. Brett Dennen – Sydney (I’ll Come Running)
Brett Dennen sort of reminds me of Gavin deGraw. But wehn I listened to this five minutes ago, I thought to myself, “Nope. There’s someone else like him.” If it was Gavin deGraw, then Brett Dennen’s voice is the cuter one. I feel like I could squeeze his cheeks while listening to, “I was never that cool” part.
2. Noah and the Whale – LIFEGOESON
I caught myself trying so hard to perfect singing along to the L-IF-E-G-O-E-S-O-N part. Hahaha. It’s funny, but hey, I have perfected it, and Charlie Fink would be proud. Hoho.
1. Mumford and Sons – Lover’s Eyes
Just so you know, it took me three weeks to let this song settle. I heard this first at Coachella, didn’t really stood out at first, but I saw this iheartradio performance days after, and it gets better the more you hear it. And those chorus lines — they are lyric perfection, once again.
The Drums – Lets Go Surfing was part of my summer mix last year. Its a fun song. Check out another band from NY, Chalk & Numbers.
Btw, nice Mumford & Sons song… besides the great lyrics, you can feel the song in watching the performance.
I'll give that band a listen for sure. 🙂
Glad you liked this M&S song. I hope it's also included in the second album. 😉
