Tracks of the Week: Eric Hutchinson, Reeve Carney, Peter, Bjorn and John, Cults, Cold War Kids

Here’s a quick post before July ends. I haven’t been blogging lately cause I have been pretty preoccupied lately. Anyway, Top Tunes for you ears!

5. Eric Hutchinson – OK, It’s Alright With Me
Here’s some catchy music with some profound life-lesson lyrics. Hutchinson actually released his album independently but it was later on picked up by blogger Perez Hilton, thus pulling his album on iTunes’ Top Ten. Yey for bloggers and brave independent artists!
4. Reeve Carney feat. Bono and The Edge – Rise Above
If Hutchinson sounded a bit Gavin deGraw-ish, this song from Reeve Carney reminds me of One Republic. The track’s got this air of mystery and subtle sensuality that makes it so interesting and well, a little bit addictive. And hey, SPIDER MAN WITH ANDREW GARFIELD!
3. Peter, Bjorn and John – Breaker Breaker
Here’s another talented group from Sweden (God, I think I want to move there already) – Peter, Bjorn, and John. Some people might find the group familiar because Gossip Girl used “Young Folks” in Season 1 – when Serena was on the train and Gossip Girl started narrating shit. Haha. This song “Breaker Breaker” is a nice, upbeat, let’s-jump-on-the-bed-and-dance-like-no-one’s-watching kind of song.
2. Cults – Oh My God
The Cults may be my new favorite band. They do kind of remind me of Sleigh Bells, but I loved every song from their self-titled album so far. This song, however, is the first that I heard from them. This is where I found Madeline Follin’s voice to be TOO CUTE.
1. Cold War Kids – Finally Begin
I can not express how much I loved this song from the moment I heard it. It feels like something that I should have ready on my Mp3 player in case something totally awesome happens to me while I’m driving on the road. This seems to be the perfect song for that.
Well, that’s that. Catch ups soon! 🙂
